Bliss 525

I’ve been wanting to try Bliss 525 for a while. The problem with living in Long Beach, is that there are so many restaurants and bars around to try, that it almost seems like an impossibility to try them all. But, I’m trying my best. Easter was coming up and I was going to have friends and family around for the weekend, so it seemed only natural to make a reservation somewhere that, one, had the room and two, had great reviews on the interweb.

I’m not one to type words for the sake of typing, so here’s the deal. Our reservation was for 1.30pm. Reason being is because I wanted to beat the Easter rush. Once we arrived, we were seated promptly upstairs on the patio. Which, I must admit, was really nice. The restaurant did not seem busy, so I thought this would be a home run. The service staff was truly amazing. And by amazing, I mean they were entertaining and sweet. I, in no way, mean the service was amazing. Let me explain.

It took forever to get our drinks to us and when they arrived, my mimosa came sans-champagne. I don’t know about you, but when I order a mimosa, I prefer it complete with champagne. Heck, I wouldn’t even mind if they got the alcohol wrong. I just wanted some pep with my orange juice. The staff did a wonderful job in getting us what we needed. Ok, we’re back on track, right? Wrong. After they took our order, it took forever to get the food out to us. And when the food did arrive, it was luke warm. Bummer.

The good news is that the food was great at this temperature, so I can only imagine how good it would have tasted if it were hot! In summary, I was a little disappointed with Bliss 525. Maybe my expectations were too high? Maybe they were just having a bad day? I don’t know. What I do know, though, is that I have another reservation for Mother’s Day for eight. I’m hoping for a redemption because I REALLY want to love this place. It’s a stones throw from my abode and a great candidate for becoming a regular of mine.

Here’s to hoping all goes well in May. Wish me luck!
